Today’s outtake.
Our blue mist spirea, I just noticed, has *substantially-sized* leaves. In JANUARY?!!! I don’t usually see this much growth until March.
Comments:
Yikes. In Maine, March blossoms get killed by April frosts. Happened to apple trees across the state a couple years ago. Hope your spirea hangs tough.

Our plum trees are spitting out black stuff, which usually presages blooms. Nature’s significantly out of sync here. I’m afraid more cold will ruin the spring flowering season here for many plants. Happened last year, too, though not to this extent.

Just saw our first hungry honeybee, months with no rain I have the only blossoms for miles.
I planted wildflowers, mostly native, bigger blossoms elsewhere, but these tough things bloom and bloom.
Interesting, when you read up on wildflowers in CA you get two types, indigenous and native; where native is any transplant that has established itself.
