Bums me out totally, for a selfish personal reason. I’d really like to complete my Private Pilot’s license one of these years ... and use it. What better way to traverse the American West?

Gotta say, the contraction in aviation has been dramatic; whether measured by programs delayed (A400M, A380, B787…) or by the less scientific method of jobs in the paper (down better than 70% by my estimate).
Good time to be flexible and alert! B-I-L and I have both been through MULTIPLE layoffs in the last few months.
