SciAm: Fire Deficit May Trigger Fiercer Wildfires.
“Since the 1980s, fire frequency in the West has increased more than 300 percent, and the annual acreage burned has jumped 500 percent.” We’ve seen neither the biggest or most tragic. Yet. And that scares the hell out of me. Yet there’s no talk of beefing up fire response by the Western states. They need to pool resources for fast-response, early-on-the-scene massive suppression efforts.
If the oil companies want to believe climate change is ‘an engineering problem’, then go ahead … engineer us out of these fires. Spend some o’ your green, guys.
