NY Times:

Hooked on a Feeling.  As with all fashion, a flash in the pan and it’ll be gone.

Oh, God—I loved my Kork-Ease sandals more than I care to admit (and I wore them during my most miserably awkward teen years, so I disagree with a couple of the assertions made in that article). They were just the best shoes ever, in every way. They were excellent summer sandals, but they still worked in cold weather, because they looked great with heavy patterned knee socks (especially toe socks, heh). They went with jeans, with cords, with long skirts, with miniskirts. And they were totally comfy, to boot.

I can’t believe they’re back, and I’d love to buy them in every color, but excuse me, ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS A PAIR? That’s just rotten. They were maaaybe 10 bucks in the 70s.

Feh.

Frye’s were comfy too, but pricey even at the time; things haven’t changed.

The only thing I have from back then is a pair of cutoff bluejean shorts I wore senior year of high school.  Completely threadbare, I pull ‘em out every so often, to make sure I can still fit in ‘em.  A ‘holey’ relic.

I keep wondering if fashion’ll go back just a little farther, when every young male looked like Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days; I mean, low rise flares are in for men already.  All they need are the flower-pattern button-shirts wide open and the hair longer than their girlfriend’s, and the look would be complete.
