BLM Announces Stage II Fire Restrictions for Northern NM. This one’s entertaining as hell. After the appropriately draconian warnings, the exceptions: “Permitted Oil and Gas Industrial Operators.” I smell a rat.

Carson National Forest’s gone to Stage III. So Taos is off limits to hiking now, too.

Later: Santa Fe National Forest’s locked down completely now, too. It’s a beat summer for hiking, but understandably so. Glad I got up to the trails when I did. When the smoke clears, I suppose long bike rides will have to suffice.
