My only other post for today ... a collection of observations.

• Read a piece about how iPad is going to kill desktop and laptop computers.  Don’t be silly. iPad is a consumption platform, not a creation platform. It will not ‘kill’ computers, except among consumers who don’t use anything but email and very basic text/photo processing. Take away my laptop, I’d chafe against the limitations. Call it what it is - an additional internet consumption device. iPad or laptop? I like 501’s, someone else might like 511’s. So what? Make me choose between the two, I’d take the laptop, any day. More capability. If you find need a desktop Mac, a laptop, an iPhone and an iPad ... more power to you.

• Watched Liege-Bastogne-Liege at the gym while running on the treadmill (yeah, yeah, I should have been on the stationary bike). Amazed to see photo helicopters zooming down in the background of the motorcycle video shots, flying way below the treeline.  Hairy.  I want to do it!

• To the guy at the gym who was sitting on the fly machine. Look, dude, don’t pick your nose while watching yourself in the mirror, and then wipe the damned thing on the handles. Sweat’s bad enough, but I draw the line on fresh boogers.  I wanted to use that machine, too ...
