So, that is what celebrity women looked like before plastic surgery? They had HIPS! Nice!
When gazing at these ‘art’ photos I was strongly reminded of Alfred Hitchcock’s earliest feature films, always up-to-date sociologically, something he maintained through all of his films that weren’t meant to be ‘historical dramas,’ throughout his entire life. Check out those earliest films and see women like these brought to life before your eyes!
Don’t assume American female sexuality of this era was widely the same as implied by these photos. One of my grandmothers, born in 1889, believed to the end of her life (1981) that ‘sex is always bad’ (direct quote) and I’m sure she wasn’t unusual for her generation of well-educated professional women.
