SF New Mexican:
Bridge over Richards Avenue is in good shape despite falling chunks, state says. That’s not very comforting. I worked briefly during college rebarring, pouring and loading pre-stressed concrete items. My understanding is, allowing the severe spalling/cracking to continue and leaving the rebar open to corrosion will weaken the structure. I’d feel better about the state’s assessment if they were going to, at the very least, patch the concrete after spraying the rebar with a corrosion-preventative.
