Baby bottle chemical levels safe, EU agency says. EFSA has been accused of pro-GMO bias in the past, and took a ‘wait and see’ stance on diacetyl (the deadly popcorn additive).

Pains were taken in the article to point out humans are not rats; scientists should know newborns are not ‘small adults’.  What concerns me is the ‘scaled-down adult’ method of deciding elimination rates. You can’t just scale down by weight and expect a safe result. No indication in the article here as to how EFSA decided newborns will eliminate the chemical safely ... one can assume they didn’t use a roomful of newborns for research.

Glass remains the safest bottle material.  Just be sure to rinse soap completely from the bottles.  Dishsoap can give even an adult the collywobbles.
