NY Times:

Clinton Is Victor, Turning Back Obama; McCain Also Triumphs. Given the geographical location, I’m not surprised that Clinton won.  But for Romney to lose in this area, is a surprise to me.  McCain spent a lot of time in NH, from what I understand, and he really yanked the rug out, hard, on the GOP field.

Some comments:

“Advisers and female voters pointed to Mrs. Clinton’s emotional moment on Monday as decisive, with advisers promising that voters would see more personal touches in the days to come.” I’d advise Clinton to stay away from the maudlin:

“Don’t cry for me Argentina Charleston
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don’t keep your distance ...”

Edwards will do better in his area (the South), but whether he can top Obama or Clinton, I’m not sure.

McCain will not be as lucky in South Carolina. Why? A bit of verse, to choke on coffee with.  We may see Huckabee raise his head again.  Will Guiliani’s endless dredging of 9/11 overtop either of these two in SC?  Given the reaction to McCain’s abortion stance in the last horserace, no.  The G-man needs secular urbanity to succeed. Thompson might actually do well, for once.

Perhaps now, with the races so close, serious future policy will be rolled out, so we can make better choices.  Platitudes in the papers, married with dramatic-gesture photos, bore the hell out of me.

Where’s the beef?
