NY Times Opinion:

Calling Al Gore. Few seem to recall that it was adding Gore to the Clinton ticket that gave it the necessary gravitas to win in ‘92.  Gore had the experience in Washington, the pedigree that comforted those concerned over a small-state Southern governor.
