NY Times: Gloria Steinem and Madeleine Albright Scold Young Women Backing Bernie Sanders.

How the mighty have fallen. Replace “Hillary” in this article with “Carly” to see how silly this all is. And Steinem’s comment! One of her famous quotes from her heyday: “A gender-equal society would be one where the word ‘gender’ does not exist: where everyone can be themselves.” I believe THAT philosophy is the one young ladies today adhere to. I am not a woman, so I can’t speak for them, but among the ones I talk to ... platform, issues and character matter more than sex today. As a female friend drily related to me: “Every woman’s had a woman boss. And they’ve never forgotten it.”

Later: Steinem walks back her comments, “misinterpretation.” Will young women believe that? Doubtful.

Yes, but.

While every movement reaches the point where it is no longer needed, I don’t see anything in society or law indicates we are there.

And most modern young women never heard of Steinem, NOW, League of Women Voters.

Of course they largely never heard of Chisolm, Davis, Cleaver the Black Panthers, the SDS, and schools still don’t teach Vietnam as it is too controversial

OH, and the Cold War was a set piece in which we all knew how it would come out abd was static enough nothing bad would happen

Modern girls seem to look to Beyonce, Minaj and others as “feminism”. Beyonce fans haven’t even heard of Lucille Bogan. 1935. Look up “BD Women”, too.

Modern hip-hop ain’t a patch on what’s come before.

She’s considered one of the top three ‘greatest’ black women blues singers. Lots of others to explore.
