“Founder of modern American conservatism”,
William F. Buckley, has passed away. From across the ideological aisle, I greatly admired his erudition. Rest in peace, sir.
Later, The NY Times: “William F. Buckley Jr., who marshaled polysyllabic exuberance, famously arched eyebrows and a refined, perspicacious mind to elevate conservatism to the center of American political discourse, died Wednesday at his home in Stamford, Conn.” It is a shame that the foot-soldiers of the American conservative movement could neither meet nor maintain that polysyllabic perspicacity.
