CNN: Prosecutors drop Lance Armstrong doping investigation.
Free, but probably won’t be the last. Whether you believe or not, some will forever dog him.
Comments:
He was an uninspiring TdF racer before his cancer diagnosis ... I think everyone believes in a lingering post-cancer drug effect. Yet it cannot be proven by testing. Will anyone repeat his feat? I doubt so, because the rules are constantly changing to prevent such dominance. We’ll never know for sure. Even with alleged enhancement, it’s a hell of a set of accomplishments. Those who have been caught cheating have not herded their performances well over the short term, much less over a set of TdFs.
To be successful at TdF, one must have a combination of fitness and strategy. One must use one’s teammates to maximum effect as team leader. Wits and fitness combined - which is why age 32-36 is a sweet spot for TdF winners. Enough age to bring wisdom, enough fitness to still excel. After 36, the fitness begins to wane and the increased wisdom can’t make up the diff. By 40 you’re only good for a ‘domestique’ ... TdF winners generally drop out or retire before this happens.

Part of me thinks this just seems like jealousy and they should just leave him alone and part of me thinks he’s a jerk who’s getting his just desserts. What he needs is someone else to repeat his feats, clean, to make him look less like an anomaly. Until then, you’re right, this will follow him to his grave.
