Over the past year, I have thoroughly embraced the frugal lifestyle. While previous years were pretty frugal, this year has seen me quit smoking, pick up a needle and thread to mend my clothes, and cut the espresso habit from once or twice a day to once or twice a month.
Even more dramatically, I have not only reverted to regular meals of rice and beans, but I have also begun making most of my foods from their constituent components. Good bread, for example, costs me less than a dollar per loaf to make. Stores here charge close to five dollars for the same quality and volume.
The next stage will be to learn to make my own clothing.
