ars technica: Hardcovers fall behind Kindle sales at Amazon.
If so, I wonder where they are. I’m not seeing them at coffeeshops here yet. Anyone else?
Comments:
I wholeheartedly agree, and am ashamed I didn’t think of it when posting this.

I haven’t commuted into NYC on the train in about a year but when I did I would see a Kindle every few days, but the number was nowhere near the number of hardback books I saw.
If I had to surmise, I would say that hardback book sales have dropped because they are way too expensive. People are opting to wait for the paperback edition. For instance, the new Stephen King book “Under the Dome” came out in hardback and the sticker shock made me look up the release date for the paperback edition and the next time I was in a Barnes & Noble, my brain clicked and realized it was release day (July 6) and picked up a copy for $19.99, a much lower price that the hardback.
