Junk faxes to be legalized as “opt-out”?  Oooh, this gets me angry.  This costs me money in depreciation, paper, expensive toner, time, and incredible inconvenience.  Not to mention tying up valuable phone lines.  Whoever came up with this one, is a robber and a thief.  Tar and feather the bum.  It’s like having your postman knock on the door and ask you to pay postage for all the junk mail you receive.  OUTRAGEOUS.  And I never shout on the weblog.  Call your Congressperson.  Via Rebecca’s Pocket.

Sudden cable modem outage.

I’m back now, but my morning link time is used up.  Bit and pieces, throughout the day.

BBC:

Digital memories survive extremes.  “They were dipped into cola, put through a washing machine, dunked in coffee, trampled by a skateboard, run over by a child’s toy car and given to a six-year-old boy to destroy.  Perhaps surprisingly, all the cards survived these six tests.”

I’ve seen many compliments for

the HP 7960, for photo printing.  This is one.  My Epson’s been feeding badly, driving me nuts with expensive cleaning cycles ....

CD Freaks:

Photographers who archive to CD-R, take careful note.  CD-Recordable disks go bad in 20 months.  I have Zips and Jaz that are much older, only beginning to throw some random read errors now. And here I was going to copy them to CD-R.  No mention of the discontinued Kodak Gold CD-R’s, or the current gold favorite, Mitsui, however.  I think I’ll spend a bit more and start redoing my important CD archives, after reading this, on Mitsui’s.
