A most civilized 404.

Something's gone wrong.

Very likely, it's my fault. I have changed this weblog over from WordPress to Expression Engine. Sorrowfully, the state of my archives does not allow an easy '301' redirection solution ... given that I have somewhere between 20,000 - 30,000 individual posts in both database and straight HTML, you can understand the magnitude of the problem. I will be penalized from my normal high "Google Juice" for a period of time for daring to attempt such a switchover, but I was never in this game to get famous. So ... I have '301'-ed the files I could (the most popular pages, within reason).

Obviously, however, that didn't work ... because you ended up here. You will have to access the search features in my sidebar, over there on the right, to find the post you want. Thankfully, Expression Engine has wonderfully powerful search features, as does Google. Between the two, and the year/date-based archive feature, you should find the post you want. If you don't, I'm sure you'll find something else at least as interesting. God knows, I've opined on just about every subject over the years.

If you accessed this page through a link on someone else's site, I'd appreciate it if you informed them by sending them the address of their page that contains the bad link address, along with the correct link you found on mine. I do this for others all the time ... it's a way to make the internet work better. Nothing's worse than hitting a weblog's links, and getting a fistful of 404's. We all switch software relatively frequently, and someday there will be graceful ways to do so. Until then, friendly corrections are the best technique we've got.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience. Any questions, email me at [garret - at - dangerousmeta - dot - com] for assistance.
