the green things are blue flax. when i get a chance to play with macro, i'll grab a shot of the small blue flowers. they open in the morning, then wilt in the heat of the sun, to return to the fullness of life again on the morrow.

well, the rocks around the patio are in place. the dead grass will be replaced by bark chips, and xeriscaping is now the 'garden mode' ...

2:40 p.m.: it's never ceases to amaze me, how rocks think. as you start moving them around, you actually begin to realize they have preferred spots they'd like to sit in. i definitely wasn't the one doing the placing today ...

i really must highly recommend the latest issue of granta, linked here the other day. i bought it yesterday, and i am finding mounds of things for reflection, discussion, retention. it's the "what we think of america" issue. $12.95. for me personally, it weaves some threads together ...

i'm about to venture outside to begin shifting moss rock. hundred-pounders. the layout of the courtyard is not aesthetically pleasing at present; that should change by this evening.
