ah, remember j.c. whitney catalogs? you knew it had to be cheap junk, but you kept the catalogs anyway? for reading in the bathroom?

it's just that driving it is more fun than cleaning it ...

that being said, where've i been? driving new mexico's dirtiest motorcycle around. and driving on roads that keep me away from the nutcase drivers ...

~8pm: i used to be your average testosterone-pumped driver. no longer. i've gone totally defensive. case in point: today, driving down cerrillos (ser-REE-yos) road in santa fe, i'm paralleling this woman who's driving a pickup truck while talking animatedly (with hands) and holding a soda. i'm in the left lane, she's in the middle lane. we're approaching a light. i figure at some point, she's going to realize she's driving 45 mph, and there are cars totally stopped up ahead. nope. she's oblivious; so is her passenger. i slow down, let her get a little in front ... suddenly she reacts. she realizes she's only got a few dozen feet to stop in, and what does she do? without looking, she swerves over into where i *would* be if i hadn't been paying attention. she eventually gets to a stop. of course, then she has to talk twice as much (about how close she came to buying the farm? i doubt it). it takes constant vigilance to keep yourself alive on the roads these days. drivers seem oblivious to the fact that they're not only responsible for their own lives, but other lives as well. maybe they need to cram that into drivers' education classes ...

attempting to avoid mediocrity today; in other words, sowing mayhem even yet. see you later this evening/afternoon.
