go out and enjoy life, folks. don't be sitting inside pushing keys. life's so short. enjoy it to the fullest.

ny times op-ed: stunning environmental blows for bush. "... his administration's dismissive approach to the nation's natural resources reflects a grievous misreading of the public temper." a great deal of environmental good news, thanks to the house of representatives.

ny times: medicating 'shyness syndrome.' 'mood brighteners' such as paxil and prozac have begun a great debate in psychological circles. say you have two salespersons (an occupation where a positive, energetic viewpoint is a career advantage), one takes prozac, one does not. is the competition for business fair? should all salespeople take prozac?

ny times: congressmen aren't being altruistic with environmental issues; they're just protecting their home turf. i don't particularly care how it's done, as long as wide swathes of america are left pristine.

cnn: united cancels flights due to hail damage of airplanes. one wonders what other carriers' planes were in denver ...

time: bush administration ethics. "if he means it, he needs to enforce it."

on the menu for today: possible impromptu meeting of the santa fe skull & cactus society; kevin drennan and i may take off to go see 'tomb raider' ...

the rodeo was okay; they no longer allow still or video cameras. so i can't share the spectacle. i was disappointed at the number of 'fat' cowboys, specifically the ones wrestling and roping steers. at times, one couldn't tell which was the cow, and which was the cow-boy, if you understand what i'm saying. the saddle bronc riding was great, and so was the barrel racing. the winning entry in barrel racing, her horse was a smart one; he knew how to head straight for the barrel at full speed, flip around his/her front hooves, pound the rear hooves to get moving again. fishtailed around each barrel, came through with a sub-17 second run. [for those of you in areas where 'barrel racing' is unknown, barrel racing is predominantly a cowgirl sport; cowgirl and horse race around three barrels placed in an arrowhead formation, usually circling the right barrel first, crossing to the left barrel, proceeding to the top middle barrel, then making the long stretch at top speed for the finish. if you're sitting on the sidelines, you get to see a horse pounding straight at you at 25 mph or so, then a mouthful of dirt as they make the turn ... great fun.] there was also a corny 'fun' act ... this time, a monkey dressed in cowboy gear, riding a border collie, herding sheep. as i said ... corny. there was good barbecue available, and fire roasted corn. i'm an addict for roasted corn. the wind kicked up, blew cowboy hats all over the place; many got stomped by horses. a good quarter of the cowboys you'd see would have hoofprints on their hats. i wish i'd been able to bring the camera in ...

good grief; twenty pieces of spam, even past my spam filters? first-amendment-rights my foot ...
